SULTANPUR LODHI : A SACRED PLACE FOR THE SIKHS

The town of Sultanpur Lodhi which falls in the present day Kapurthala District of Punjab, is a sacred place for the Sikhs. Among the sacred places relating to Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji (1469-1539) the first prophet-teacher of the Sikhs, in addition to Nankana Sahib, District Nankana Sahib (Pakistan), Kartarpur Sahib, District Narowal (Pakistan) and Dera Baba Nanak, District Gurdaspur of Punjab this town is of paramount importance for the Sikhs. Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born on April 15, 1469 at Rai Bhoi Ki Talvandi now called Nankana Sahib 65 kms south-west of Lahore, now in Pakistan.

Iran’s only female Olympic medallist, Kimia Alizadeh, has defected from the Islamic Republic in a scathing online letter that accused the government of “hypocrisy,” “injustice” and oppressing women like her while using them as political tools. Kimia Alizadeh, who won a bronze medal in taekwondo at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, shared the news on her Instagram account this past weekend.

 

Gold toilet weighing 103 kilograms stolen from Churchill palace

More than my expectations, the readers have liked this blog about an 18-carat gold made toilet (see its pic above), having been stolen from Blenheim Palace, the Oxfordshire, the birthplace and family home of Winston Churchill. Churchill was two time the Prime Minister of United Kingdom. This news was carried by almost all the leading newspapers of the world including New York Times. But Indian leading newspapers simply ignored it or some of them, who carried the news did not give it prominent display, just put in brief news. But I found this news very important as this 18-carat gold toilet was fabricated in 1945 and installed at Winston Churchill’s palace when Britishers were India’s rulers.
